It’s not hard to find a dispensary in the Boston area these days. While cannabis enthusiasts are lucky to have so many options around, not every store provides a top-notch experience. The right dispensary takes care of you each step of the way, making sure you have a positive visit and leave with exactly what you came for each time.
Our Dorchester dispensary is a cut above the rest, as we pride ourselves on excellent customer service and product selections. We take it a step further with a deep commitment to our Dorchester community. We’re uniquely local, and our neighbors count on us to listen, respond, and care for our community. We’re not just here to sell cannabis, we’re here to help Dorchester thrive.

We didn’t just pick a random place to open a cannabis dispensary in Boston. Our team has a deep connection to Dorchester–one that informs every decision we make for our community.
For our co-founder Richie Parsons, Dorchester is where it all began. His family has been in Adams Village since 1916 and you can see remnants of their history all over town. Back in the day, Richie’s father ran CCD at St. Brendans for 25 years and he and his brothers all served as altar boys.
When Richie was a teenager working at the now-closed Filene’s Basement, he wrote a song called “No Surfin’ in Dorchester Bay,” which became an anthem for the historic neighborhood. He’d sell 45s to locals at Gerard’s and Casali’s.
“No Surfin’ in Dorchester Bay” served as more than a neighborhood anthem. It also inspired our name, Surf’s Up. For us, Dorchester is home, and Surf’s Up is our love letter to this one-of-a-kind neighborhood.
Our team brings an excellent track record to our dispensary, with combined expertise in retail and cannabis. Before Surf’s Up, Richie spent 33 years as retail manager and district manager for Newbury Comics. He has also managed a medical marijuana dispensary in Needham for the last seven years, where he taps into patient needs and stays on top of the latest developments in the space.
Our other co-founder, Michelle, has a background in cannabis retail, having successfully operated several high-end stores around Boston.
Between our multiple successful ventures in cannabis, we’ve become experts in safety and compliance. Our customers have come to see us as a trusted source with impeccable safety and compliance records.
We know how important it is for customers to have access to safe, quality cannabis. It’s why we hold ourselves to the highest operational and safety standards. It’s also why our loyal customers keep coming back.
Good businesses are built on great relationships. We care about our customers and our larger community, so we do everything we can to keep shoppers happy, safe, and satisfied with their purchases.
Our business model is rooted in integrity. We know that actions speak louder than words, so we do everything we can to listen and respond to our customers’ needs. We value transparency and are always willing to go the extra mile to answer questions, educate our customers, and provide the best selection possible.
Surf’s Up is not just another Dorchester dispensary—it’s a community space. To keep the community aspect alive, we:

Our jobs are representative of Dorchester itself. We prioritize hiring from the City of Boston, especially Dorchester neighborhoods, through our “Boston First” hiring program. After all, we want to invest and give back to this community that we love so much.
We also prioritize hiring Boston teammates from diverse backgrounds, including people of color, women, and those who have been negatively impacted by the justice system. Considering so many people from our own city have been left out of the cannabis industry, we’ve made it our mission to make sure everyone gets a seat at the table.
We like to think of ourselves as the best dispensary Dorchester has ever seen, and it’s because our menu will be shaped by customer feedback and rooted in quality and transparency. We don’t decide what to carry based on the interests of some corporate manager. Instead, we listen to what our customers want and implement changes where necessary.
Whether you want local craft brands, niche products, or the biggest Massachusetts cannabis brands on the market, we take the time to make it happen. Don’t see what you want? Just ask.

Sure, you can find a Boston cannabis dispensary pretty easily nowadays. But few come close to a true neighborhood joint that’s backed by love and locals, not corporate interests. Surf’s Up is raising the bar for what it means to serve a community.
We operate with integrity and are built to serve the people. We care about offering trusted products and an excellent experience to our neighbors from all walks of life.
Stop by and see for yourself why Surf’s Up stands out among cannabis dispensaries in Dorchester. Whether you’re here for the flower, the friendly faces, or the familiar feel, we’re here to welcome you home. Come see what a true, community-first dispensary looks like at 770 Gallivan Blvd, Dorchester.
